No need to pay for shipping and wait for the overpriced paper textbook or CD-ROM to arrive via snail mail. IT NOW!! One is engine rpm transmitter on inspection cover on clutch housing, another is speedometer located on transmission cover under floor boards, and then the exhaust gas temp on manifold, I would forget about that one and of course the whole wireing harness that feeds this unit. Correct, I do have the pad style, But wasn't sure, it was called something different, I figured that the knob one would be a knob data center, and mine was the digital But learn something new every day.
I'm assuming, that your referring to the wire that I've shown is broken, If so, Yea, that's not my priority, the dash, and lights are my main concern how, I'll be somewhat resoring her, this winter, so just want to get her road ready. Thanks for the quick responces, Both H-D and Pete. I'm going next door, to see if I have a burnt fuse, For the incase, You responde before I get back, What size fuse should it be, for incase It's broken,. Another question, Would the service manual have more information, regarding the lights and general knowledge, Because at the Local Tractor Supply, they have one, and I've been eying it Well, My eye won.
I went to town, to get a new fuse holder, as I figured out part of my problem Which is a Shop manual, which covers a few of the 10 and lower models, But it includes the It's not a service manual, for only the , Which I'd love to get my hands on. Ok, So My main problem, was that the fuse holder butt, was nolonger connected, well it was, but a fter juggiling, it wasn't. So I went to the local parts store, and bought a fuse box, So i installed that, and nothing happened, Or so I thought,.
So then, I started messing with fuses, cleaning contacts, and all the dodads involved, and AMAZINGLY got the headlights, the lights by the little windows, "flood lights" , and the blinkers to work. Well, technically only the left side headlights, and flood lights work, But After removing the Grill, Which is EASY, I found that the wires, that I'm assuming, go from the left head light, to the right head light, hav some corrosion on them, from rubbing the panels, So I'll have to investigate this.
But That's ok for now Ok, So you said, the data center, has 4 screws holding it in, NO, they only have 2. Are you talking about the one that you push the buttons on the left, or the one on the right, which is all the analog needels, Which works. The one on the left, is the problem one Once I've got power, on the down end of the inline fuse, the data center should work, Because I do.
So, I'm not sure, how i'm suposed to get to looking at the pins, if you were talking about this, and not the right one So on that note, I'm assuming, that it would also then control the rear cab lights, and the ones on the rear of the fender, not sure what they are, because I don't have the lenses, they broke, long before my time.
I saw on the wireing diagram that I got in the shop book, and it has whats called, 30 amp circuit breakers, Where are these circuit breakers located, Are they up in the roof, because I've yet to attempt to remove the panels, behiind my head, I see that they have some sort of nobs, to unscrew, but didn't want to get into that without knowing what I"m up against You are correct, only two screws holding data center in.
Pull whole data center out far enough to reach in behind and disconnect the multiple wire connector and the pins are on the data center and the female connections to the pins are in that multiple connector on harness.
I wouldn't tacke the data center itself as it is a real nightmare inside and would have to be sent off for repair. IH quit using that model and went to a Dickey John unit similar to the ones in the 50 series tractors because of reliability problems. Like I said though, you have to have power at two pins and good ground for it to even attempt to light up and work. The 30 amp circuit breakers were supposed to be added at dealership later, doesnt look like yours was done.
They were actually odd size fuses, havent seen from any one else. Looks like you have a circuit breaker mounted right above cab relay. I don't want to sound stupid, But have a feeling I am. Is a Cab Sol, a solenoid, If so, where would it be located, Remember, This is the first time, "digging" into the cab, was too scared to before, And I know the basics of electronics, But I know more about the LED's and little circuits, not this big mess, But It's the same just on a larger scale, So bear with me, on the terminology Please and thanks.
I wasn't planning on tackeling it, Just wanted to get to the pins, Which now I realize where they are, I'll try again this afternoon, after school. And in the picture, that was as far as I could get So, i'm going to assume, that means it never worked from the begining, or?
The part about it not being added. Where is the cab relay, IS that what holds all the fuses, , meaning that the circuit breaker is the long white box, with 2 wires comming out. Again sorry for all the questions, New to this whole elctrician thing The horn even sounds louder.. The cab relay it the round black cylinder shaped item at the bottom of the area.
The long white item is a resistor. It should conduct power through it, but depending on load it it will be less that the full 12 volts.
OK, Am I supposed to be able to remove the whole black case, that holds in the circuits in, Because I can remove the cover, which holds the buttons, But the cords that goes from the cover, to the board, don't have any connectors I looked for about 2 hours, while I was trapped in the cab, Seems after 3 months of NO rain, or a cload in the sky, we all of a sudden had a thunderstorm, and since I parked the truck, yards away, and had the service manual, and camera, I couldn't just run, Plus, I've got a "few" leaks in the cab The black box, seems to have had some screw holes, or maybe not, But they are now filled with an epoxy, so not sure if that was form factory,.
Is just the cover suposed to come out, or just the whole box, because I can only get the cover Am I suposed to be getting at this, from under the dash, beding i'm approaching from top of dash. You have opened a can of worms taking that cover off the data center.
Just pull the whole box out and the wiring that I have talked about is behind it. Way too much electronics inside that box if you don't have proper test equipment and knowledge. The main wiring harness connects behind the box with a simple twist style connector and pull it off. That is where all the power supply and signals from sensors come into data center.
