Use xp on vista license
I have paid for windows ever since it first hit the market and upgraded several times. I use Windows XP because Linux is extremely difficult to my wife and kids deal with! Well ive enjoyed reading this, i really was just curious if my student updated version of xp pro would qualify for an vista update. I only want the 64 bit os and have the hardware to do so just think i want to run it simultaneously with my xp at same time as vista 64 although quite good is still very buggy and not supported yet its not going on other machines so i dont see the harm of having it on my system as well.
The car analgy was amusing but if you get given a lemon most manufacters give a replacement car as a loan while they are fixing the lemon microsoft dont wont and never will do this. For your information after reinstalling XP dont go for internet activation but activate using these two files. This technique is used in XP preloaded systems.
I was having problems with my system and wanted to re-install my operating system. My system was custom built and came with Windows XP. Several months ago, I upgraded to Vista Home Premium. I used my activated XP for almost a week before upgrading back to Vista. This may not work on a different system, but it does work on the same system on which it was installed.
OK read eula clearly. I recently upgraded to unitmate vista and i forgot to read the instructions box and to buy a key now i have upgraded an saw that and thought to downgrade it back to premuim but the key is still invalid now it says! This is all quite confusing about upgrades, my situation seems a little less complicated, but not for me.
I installed it on an old laptop for my wife hoping I could convince her to learn computers. I activated the code online. It sat there for 2 years without being used. The laptop is unsuitable for my purposes because of its age. I recently bought a new computer with Vista on it and I hate it. I called Microsoft about it, and they said it is an OEM copy and cannot be transferred to another computer.
I just know there is a solution to this dilemma. If anyone out there can help me, email me at: donwil peoplepc. Now he is blocked from internet activation as well as telephone. Now they will give you confirmation ID. Dont directly put in the boxes of activation window. VSN it is in the format xxxx-xxxx. What purpose do all these numbers fulfil. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Don. So how do you reinstall windows XP? Last were can you buy a new version of windows XP now?
Fred, you talk about how Apple uses this honor system because they are so nice, yet Microsoft lives in fear because they are not creative. First off. I know how to do it, but the point is that made it difficult. Where is the honor in that? That is the action of a frightened company, Apple that is. All you have to do is look at their ads that show a Mac with a nice white background and NOTHING plugged in to know they are trying ot make a statment that their system is easier and better to use than a PC.
Another annoying thing Apple does is to target universities. Why do that? There are several reasons, but because the 18 to 22 year olds are the perfect age to start brainwashing their little Apple cult. Which is my whole point. Apple is a company that tries to brain wash people who want to believe they are smart and clever into thinking they won by buying Apple.
I have watched over 20 years of Apple ads and I absolutely know there is much truth in what I just said. Yet they give the illusion of leading. Most of the time they apeal to people who enjoy mere esthetics. Apple is MORE expensive in the long run. You are full of shit, LOL. I think the bright and informed know what a deceptive, desperate company Apple has always been and always will continue to be. A creative person knows how to build a good PC and save money all while being better than a Mac.
Not be tied to ONE hardware vender. And one other thing. How can Microsoft who is worth billions be Afraid? They are simply greedy, just like Apple is. Only Apple sells less because most people know hype when they see it. Well to get the savings from an upgrade…the savings came from the cost of your xp that you bought.
Vista just adds on to what you already have. So in essance, your xp and vista upgrade cd are one now. The bucks for xp is your discount for a vista upgrade. No they dont want you to pass your xp on to someone else for free. While you have vista that was upgraded on the basis of you buying xp.
I see no problem here. At least I get credit for buying xp. My bucks for xp that I own is my discount to get the vista upgrade. I see it as a discount for buying xp and being a preferred costomer.
They are minusing the cost of xp from the cost of vista. They are giving you your money back for xp in essence so you can afford vista. Who has an iPod? I can almost gurantee that without a skin, it will scratch and it will scratch alot. They just say it protects your iPod from scratched.
Personally I think that Apple the company with honor is worst. Apple is so confusing it took me 3 hours to get everything installed right so i get to play my favorite game Wolfteam after installing a windows emulator.
The graphics for their computers is equivelent to my Sony Vaio. One made in anyway. Easiest OS to use… I would sasy a command prompt is easier to use ever get a problem on one? I accomplised in 4 hours what I accomplished in one on windows.
My regards to jz whoever he is. Dude you should publish your rant on some video worshipping macs. I had trouble selling mine after it got crapped up. Thank you jz whoever you are.
Who owns an IpOd Touch? If you do you might reconsider buying an iphone both in my opinion crappy. Ipod just has influence thats why. I remember a while ago an expiriment. People took two Mcchicken burgers from Macdonalds. They then wrapped one up in a burger king wrapper. They made it into samples and gave it out to people.
People said they liked the one from Macdonalds more. Same thing, Ipod has influence. Bravo for the touch idea though. Just kidding if you own a treo, you can almost get the same effect almost. Ejemplo de como migrar todo el software de una empresa a Linux « Ubuntu Life. Ejemplo de como migrar todo el software de una empresa a Linux « OcioLinux. I was wondering,as I was informed yesterday,if a Windows operating system such as 95,98,98SE,ME, and soon win is no longer supported by Microsoft, meaning no further security updates and patches provided, then does this make the EULA invalid.
So your legal copy or cracked version,is in fact not illegal or pirated? What if someone created,as has been done,an autopatcher for all those unsupported versions? Or am I am misinformed? Where can I find info on this? I always reinstalled Win98 on the same PC. Formatted the disk, and did a clean install. Why would I do this.
To make sure any spyware, toolbars and sneaky programs did not leave anything behind. I hope I can do this with my xp and vista.
Immediately aftwards, my computer was counting down the days until expiration. I finally got fed up. I encourage everyone to dump windows all together. If I purchase the Vista upgrade and install from boot, could I slip in the Pro disc and upgrade from that?
At that point the XP key should still be ok right? Switch to Linux, people! It is that easy. Ubuntu is one of the best Linux distributions around, with its easy installation process and support for many devices. Why would you want an unreliable operating system that is closed-source code made by an unscrupulous and devious company like Microsoft?

Stick a fork in XP, it's done. I started gaming when Pong was a table sized game at the pool hall. Bill Gates still wore short pants and a "portable" computer was one that only needed 4 guys to move. There are a few games that won't run on Vista, heck, there were games that wouldn't run on XP. Remember the old Starwars series, where you flew X wings and other space ships, Wing Commander?
Those didn't work on XP. Computers change, both hardware and software. If you wish to stay back in the last century so you can play one game, by all means do so, but don't blame it on an operating system that idiots read a bad review about the beta version 3 years ago and decided without ever using it was bad. Vista works great. Win7 works even better from what I'm told. If you want to play BF 2 and nothing else the rest of your life that's cool.
Personally I like to move on, try new things. Some still have their BF servers. Try some new games, you might even like them. You aren'tstill using that computer that ran your 3. But anyways, very few of my games do not work with Vista.
The ones that don't are due to the arrogance of the company that designed them, not Vista. The qualifying version of Windows must be installed on the computer to which you will assign the volume licensing upgrade license. You must remove the qualifying version of Windows in order to deploy the volume licensing upgrade license. The following table lists the qualifying operating systems. If you want to run more than one licensed version of Windows at the same time, you have the following options:.
Purchase full Windows Vista licenses separately. Microsoft does not offer licenses for full versions of Windows under the volume licensing agreement.
If you have active Software Assurance coverage, you do not have to uninstall the qualifying version of Windows. You can install and run the qualifying version of Windows and Windows Vista at the same time. The installed base is the set of qualified computers owned by you and your covered affiliates as of the effective date of the enrollment or agreement.
This term includes any renewal or successive term. These computers include computers that you acquired through merger or acquisition. If you have a license for Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista Business, and you have this license together with Software Assurance, you are eligible to use an earlier version of Windows instead of the version you have licensed. Microsoft has extended these downgrade rights under the Windows Vista Business upgrade license to let you use Windows 98 or Windows If you exercise this right to use an earlier qualifying Windows operating system for which Microsoft Plus!
